Other Carbon Substances

The Activated Carbon Consortium is preparing for the registration of Activated Carbon only.

Other types of carbon (i.e., products not meeting the definition of Activated Carbon) will not be covered by the Activated Carbon registration.

There are several kinds of other ‘carbon’ based or related substances that need to be registered under the REACH Regulation. Companies that need to register another type of carbon, will have to find or organize a group or consortium to do so. The table below provides leads that may be useful.

The Activated Carbon Consortium cannot be of further service in this.

(check your pre-registration pre-SIEF list at ECHA REACH-IT for possible updates)

Notes to the table:

  • Also check your pre-registrations in REACH-IT. In the pre-SIEF partnership list often a company is indicated (by Status [F]) that has put itself forward as Sief Formation Facilitator. They have volunteered ‘to get things going’.
  • If an SFF is listed for your substance in REACH-IT this is no guarantee that a dossier is actually being prepared on time. You need the check for yourself if progress is adequate and your interest is taken care of.

All information in the text, table and notes reflects the situation by early February 2010. It is given in good faith but without any guarantees. Any company is responsible itself to do what is needed to meet its REACH obligations on time.
